Tweaking FF and Rewind?

I have the F900BT and am listening to MP3 audio books on SD.

Maybe I missed something in the instructions but is there anyway to make the fast forward faster when listening to MP3's off the SD card.

I have audio books that are 50 minutes per track and my ride to work is 30 minutes, when I turn the ignition back on it restarts back at the beginning of the track and holding the FF button only skips 4 seconds at a time, I don't want to have to hold the button down for 7.5 minutes?

Anyone know if there is a hack to change this or if I am just being dumb and there is a factory way of doing this. Ideally a progressive FF would be nice, faster the longer you hold it down?

(Failing that, does anyone know any good utilities to chop up MP3s into manageable chunks?)

I was wondering a similar thing about FF/RWD. Also, listening to audio books.

But, I am pretty sure mine picks up where it left off after restarting the vehicle.

Are you sure your constant power is not connected wrong?

Still FF/RWD is very slow.

If you wanna just burn a CD, Nero (even the 'express' version) does a great job of this. When you add the file to an audio CD, right-click it and select "Properties". Then you add "Indexes" (?...indices?) wherever you want them, click the "Split at Index" button, and then "OK". It'll tell you "Hey - I'm gonna split your single file up into xx number of individual tracks" - you say ok and then it returns you to the previous screen with xx number of individual tracks. I'm sure there's some way to save these individual tracks as separate files also, but I usually just delete the entire project and lose all of my progress after I burn the CD.

Other than that, you should search for a free open-source program called "Audacity". You can open the original file and then do pretty much the same thing in there, or cut & paste whatever you want into individual new files if that's easier for you. I used this program to quiet the button sounds on the AVIC - works great.

The position sticks for CD and Ipod, but not SD

I could reburn to CD but the defeats the convenience and re usability of using the SD (Don't get me started on CD-RW).

Yeah... then use Audacity to split it up into smaller tracks. Works great.
