Don't know if anyone got the Pioneer F-90BT survey or any survey for their particular F series, but if anybody would like to take Pioneer's survey and tellthem what they think of the system here is the link.

At the end of the survey you can add comments. Here is what i put:

  • I purchased this unit because of all of the good reviews the D series had, and I thought if the D series is that good this new F series has got to be better (I was wrong).I marked dissatisfied with the unit because the unit does not do half the stuff that the pioneer web page claims it does. When using the unit it feels like it is still in beta testing and should have NEVER went to market at the time that it did. The voice recognition works sometimes, the system locks up on boot up about 75% of the time, it is not very intuitive, takes 2 to 4 minutes to recognize a 4 gig usb thumb drive that has only 1 video and 16 songs on it. The fact that the system mutes the voice directions while on the phone is preposterous (we should have a choice in the settings menu), there have been a couple time that I am using the gps to tell me where to go for a meeting and had to be on the phone to finalize little stuff before the meeting but could not do that because I do not know where I am going Samantha can't tell where to go and the phone box cover too much of the screen to really see the map well. There have been plenty of time that after I have hung-up the phone the audio from the AV source does not come back and Samantha has never returned until I either turn off the car or press the reset button. Many times I have pressed the knob for voice recognition to call someone and the voice recognition never starts. The navigation is igo8, but we cannot use any scheme or the new maps from igo on it and pioneer surely has not produced a map update. I bought mine in March 2009 and I received it with 2007 maps....honestly that is unacceptable. I have only had this unit for a month and I am seriously considering selling it and getting one of the new Kenwood models. I have heard rumor that there will be another firmware upgrade (Firmware 3.0) so I might wait and see if that fixes all of the issues finally, because the system when it is performing right is a beauty and I love it, but I did not spend $1000 for a unit to work at its full potential or as advertised 30% to 40% of the time. I firmly believe that if pioneer comes out with a new version of the F series that all current registered F-series owners should get a coupon towards a trade-in to the new unit if not have an even trade to the new unit.

This is what I wrote:

" The F series has been a major disappointment for me. I regularly purchase the newest high tech device upon release and that was a influence on my purchase of the F series from my D3. I will not purchase another Pioneer Nav on reputation alone. If I do Purchase Another Navi from Pioneer, I will thoroughly test it in shop before had. I will be strongly considering the new line of Kenwood Navi units soon. The disappointments in the F series for me have been the general lack of functionality and stability of the features advertised. Almost nothing that actually sells the F series over the competition works as advertised. Unfortunately, because of all of the stubborn issues with the F series, the user community on the internet has had to pick up the slack in the form of user hacks to make the unit more functional and is the only reason I decided to purchase this unit instead of the competition. However, the biggest disappointment with the F series is the HORRIBLE support staff at Pioneer regarding the issues stated. I have the worst experiences dealing with Pioneer support and this fact will strongly influence my decision to ever buy another Pioneer product. Moving forward, the best way in my opinion for Pioneer to better the consumer confidence is to not release another product before it is ready to be released and to drastically improve its support staff."
