hi, ive recently purchased and avic 700, i installed last week, install was a breeze and the radio worked great. got it all setup and everything seemed to work perfectly. today I recieved my xm radio/traffic unit. i installed, install was a breeze, powered it up with the radio, worked perfect. called xm to do a radio switch, they sent the signal and i left the everything running for 20 minutes for the signal to download into the unit. came out to the vehicle and checked the download was complete and it was. so i shut everything down. upon coming back 45 minutes later i power the vehicle up and the radio came on to the splash screen.....then shut down. didnt reset, just simply shut down. ive unplugged the xm unit, the factory amplifier, every concivable problem ive check as far as the install went. ive reset the radio several times, ive removed power, both a no go. can someone please help me. pleeeaaassse

ok, from what ive found a hard reset involes pressing the reset button and the eject button together for 5 seconds, this did not work for me, anything else to try?

try starting it again, i've read from another thread of 1 guy complaining about his unit not booting and all of a sudden after a while he tried booting it and it worked, just my 2c, or just eturn it

yeah, nothing seems to bring it back, so i will try and reload software today, this seems to be the next logical step and looks like the common fix as well.

just an update of what ive done so far. i tried to get into test mode, it would go into it but only for a brief second then shut down the same, as though the shut down was timed. anyways i loaded an sd disk with the 2.0 update off of pioneers website, the system took the update but upon reseting it would not go any further then the splash screen, but would not shut off, woohoo, progress. i then was able to successfully get into testmode, in there i tried a few of the things that ive found on these forums, however im still not there. now when i turn the radio on the splash screen stays up but if i push menu i can now get into the menu, if then i push destination i get the pioneer agreement come up on screen, but nothing happens if i push ok, as well in the menu i have no sound at all. if i try go into settings i can, but av wont work, only system settings allows me in were i cant really do anything, i noticed that there arent even any splash screens to change, so this leads me to believe that im missing part of the software. i was not able to back my origanal up obviously because of the instant shutdown. so can anyone tell me where to go from here? please

so after all my searching and screwing around with this thing i finally got it working. ultimately whether someone is planning on doing any software mods or not it very important to back up you original software right out of the box. i did not not do anything to my f700 except add an xm radio tuner and some how my software got either corrupted or deleted. in the end i fixed this problem by obtaining a original copy of the software and just simply pasting it into my flash drive in the test mode. im still unsure why or how the original software would just go the way it did, but either way im prepared now if it ever does it again. i hope this will help someone else. thanks everyone.
