Hi Guys first time psoter, posting from Ireland,i am very interested in getting my hands on an F series avic(after been put on to them by a friend - Cheers Stan) and would be buying from the US due to the big money to be saved,my question is though is there a way to remove the inbuilt US maps and replace them with the European maps?

Im sorry if this topic has been covered but its late here and like i said im only new.

Just a warning: search this forum for info, you will have problems with the radio part of the US units in Europe, that cannot be solved by software. Just so you know what you're getting into....

The frequency grid is different, and there is no RDS and TMC (Traffic re-direct)on the US models.

Also of course on the DVD models the region code is different.

Yes i searched last night after wards and found the info on putting iGo maps onto the unit, what are Igo maps like how would the compare to Garmin for instance.

The radio freq issue doesn't bother me my current HU was purchased in the states,i hardly ever listen to the radio only ipod, also not bother about DVD as cars are not for watching movies in. :D

Ok, fair enough, just so you know

Personally, I would not like to miss my traffic info /redirect anymore (TMC), but I guess it also depends on where you live on how usefull it is....
