Im having a major problem i lost my east coast navi disc so i borrowed a friends one and loaded into mine. at frist it kept coming up with an error. then it installed his disc into my d3. i ended up finding my east coast navi disc a couple of days later and now it won't take mine. so i did a rest and "this is not the appropraite disc. Please insert the appropariate disc" keeps coming up. so i had to use my friends disc again so i can get the radio to play. the navi won't even come on. what should i do.

Sounds like your friend had the new version, and you had the old version. Was his burned?

Once the unit updates to the new map disc, I don't believe you can go back to using the old one without doing a downgrade...but don't quote me since I haven't really been following the new map disc saga.

yeh I'm currently having a similar problem. I purchased my D3 off ebay, and it's all in great working order apart from the sat nav. when i press the sat nav button the message comes up..."please insert the appropriate disk. this is not the appropriate disk". the guy who i bought it off sent me the western europe CNDV-70 disc, which evidently doesnt work. I thus cant get to the navigation menu to even adjust my custom background, get the gauges etc.

does anyone have any ideas? is it simply that I need the updated disc or could there be another reason?

Thanks.

yeah it was a bruned disc. i called the place that installed and since its not under warranty anymore they wanna charge me 45 dollars to take it out my car and ship it to a place that can fix. and the dude couldnt give me a price on how much its gonna cost. he said that its a common problem with the d3. well it looks like i'ma have to fork out the cash. i thought someone up here could help but i guess not.

If you have the remote, you could always try to downgrade back to the 70-series maps. On that note, you could spend $20-$25 on ebay and buy the new 80-series map that you need. Cheaper than paying $45 to remove the unit, then another $200 to pay the repair place to reflash the system.

There are directions here on this site on how to downgrade, but you need the remote to do so.
