Question about Avic-F700BT

I have been looking at one of these units both as a replacement for my wife's D3 and as a unit for my own car.

I know that this forum will always see a lot of complaints about reboots etc, but is the general consensus that this unit is "solid" or would I be best served to wait for the new units coming out this summer?

I have seen some great deals on the 700 (since I need 3 Pre-outs), but seeing the reboot issues makes me worry a bit.

A lot of us have had zero issues, so take that into consideration, in fact I have had zero issues since having my F700BT installed last fall.

But there is something new on the way, and I'm sure it will be newer and shiner in the next month or so, it's worth adding that into the equation.

Thanks for that...

Its hard to pass up the price, and it also seems that the people with issues (from what I have read) have done the bypass as well.

My wife's D3 doesn't have the bypass and other than having to set the parking break to set an address its not an issue.

Is your unit bypassed?

hardware bypass, completely painless.

I can certainly see how adding a software bypass will skew the numbers since that is touching the OS in various places, even if it's considered safe, as does any other software mod. (you pays your money, you takes your chances)

I wouldn't find a HW mod, but messing with the OS is a bit too dicey for me.
