F700BT Boots to Black Screen - Anyone Have Backup Files?

I have a F700BT that has been working fine since I installed it 6 months ago, it is now out of warranty. 2 days ago it booted up to a screen that said "WARNING: SCREEN IMAGE MAY BE REVERSED". I thought nothing of it and rebooted it and it was fine for a day. Then yesterday it booted to the splash screen for 10-15 seconds, then went black with the LED's out as well, although the unit is still on since I can hear the fan. Searching the archives I've found this is a common problem. I have the hardwire bypass, and a custom splash screen at those are the only mods.

I have cycled the power to the unit dozens of times and it will not get to a menu screen. Holding the reset or reset and eject buttons will not get me to a menu either, again I have tried this many many times. No combination of pressing the menu or map buttons will get me to a menu either. If I could get to a menu there might be hope that the backup camera has turned itself on and that is the problem, but I cannot get to a menu.

I tried installing the 2.0 firmware upgrade (I had factory installed 2.0) which was installing fine until it went to reboot itself, then hung itself on the black screen again. On a second hard reset (reset plus eject buttons) the unit will boot to the test file. I deleted the 4 gpsparaxx.bin files, but that did not help. I tried to delete the MyFlashDisc\user\userdata folder, but there was no User folder at all. On top of this most of the file names in MyFlashDisc are written in gibberish, like boxes and squiggly lines, no known language. This is possibly due to an incomplete install of the 2.0 update.

All of this seems to point to a fresh install of the MyFlashDisc folder but I do not have backup files. I downloaded the files for the F90BT, but I am not sure if they will work on a F700BT, and I don't want to brick the unit.

So my questions are: Is there some possible (simple) solution that I have missed? If I reload the files, will the F90BT files work? Is there a source for the F700Bt files? Will a 2GB SD card be sufficient to reload the files? PLEASE HELP!

I know a couple of peeps used the f90 files on their 700 and it worked, but I cant say for sure if the files are the same and will work. If you do a search for f700bt backup files you will find a thread where youcan get them. You have to PM the person and he/she will set you up to get the files. Whish i could rmember the users name, sorry i cant though. Good luck.

Thanks for the help minifreezer. I went to BestBuy today and they let me copy the files off of their display unit, so I *should* have a complete set. BUT my unit will not let me delete the files off of MyFlashDisc. Like I said before the characters all look corrupt (un-intelligible), and most of the files do not give me the option of deleteing, or copy or cut. I can delete the folders, and some of the files, but the majority cannot be deleted. Needless to say if I cannot delete the corrupt files, I can't install the fresh version. Has anyone faced this before? I'm not even sure what to search the archives for. I think my unit is done for, which is so infuriating! Does anyone know how much Pioneer charges to re install the flash drive software? Or what their minimum charge is?
