Thinking of buying a US Avic F500BT and adding Europe Maps. Basicially because I can get it for $200 over there and it cost $1000 here in Norway.

Been seaching high and low on the forum for days but I cant find a clear answer on the end result of such a modification.

Could someone please tell me if this is doable, are there bugs or does the GPS function work flawless when changing maps, and most important what is the best mod for changning for US til Europe maps?

Would really appreciate some respond to this topic...

You can probably also wait a bit and get a European F500 with a working radio and TMC and lot less hassle, for a low price when the new series (F510) becomes available....

The F700 is currently already selling for 500 Euro's here in the Netherlands...

Yeah it's the hassle part im worried about, I hate when things arent working 100%

Are you sure there will be a F510? The F500 doesent have a radio so its only the maps that I need to update...

You might be right, I'm assuming there will be a 510, but I don't see it yet:

I was assuming that since they're upgrading the entire range to x10 models, they'd include the 500 in that...

B.t.w., it might not have radio, but it does have TMC in Europe... I don't know if that's important to you, and if the US version has it, (there's no mention of it on the US Pioneer site)....
