I have a 2002 GMC Envoy. I am getting confused as what I would need in order to keep the basic things going in my car after the install. I am getting different answers from different installers and it's probably because they are trying to make more money off of me.

All I need is for my door chimes to keep working like usual. I do not have a bose system. I have factory. I don't need the Onstar to keep working, becuase I stopped using it after the first year when I got my car. (Didn't have a use for it really.)

A couple of installers told me I need the GMAH24 which they say is for my door chimes and things like that. Well when you google GMAH24, you get info about needing it if you have a Bose system. My one installer told me that I would need that for the sound chimes and such to work. Well I am noticing the GMAHCM which when you look them up on sites, is what causes the sound chimes to work and not the GMAH24 (Again according to websites I've read, the GMAH24 is for Bose systems only).

So basically what I am gathering here from searching online is the GMAH24 is if you have a bose system and the GMAHCM is to retain the door chimes.

Than I see some sites that carry the Gmah24B. What the heck is the difference??

I am about to blow up here I am so confused. Can anyone out there who installed/had a unit installed for a GM, tell me what I REALLY need to make this work properly?

I thank you guys in advance for all your help and advice.

Actually I did make a post on this about a month ago. There are two units, one for Bose systems (GMAH24B) and one for non-Bose units (GMAH24). (Sorry I didnt reply earlier, but I went away for the weekend with the wife :) )

GMAH24
2000-2003 Non-BOSE
GM Sound System Interface

GMAH24B
2000-2003 BOSE
GM Sound System Interface

Now You Can:
o Install an aftermarket head-unit without having to retain the factory radio!

o Retain full OnStar® functionality and play OnStar® communications through both front speakers.

o Connect radio's Accessory 12-volts in the dash provided by GMAH24/B.

o Retain full compatibility with GM's Retained Accessory Power (RAP) system. Keep radio powered up after key off, just like the factory system.

o Integrate with either type of GM BOSE system with one interface, GMAH24B.

So I actually do need the non bose harness than? I thought that wasnt necessary if I was getting the GMAHCM (retains door chimes). Or do I just need the GMAHCM as well?

What exactly is the GMAH24 actually needed for?

Thanks for the replies guys!
