I recently bought the F500BT package with the ND-G500 amp. My car has an Alpine headunit installed with a 5 channel amp + subwoofer. The Alpine headunit also comes with Auxiliary Input cable for portable mp3 players. I'm thinking of using only the car cigarette power for DC power and the headunit AUX-in to play through my speakers. With my setup, do I really need to install the ND-G500 amp? What am I losing if I don't use the ND-G500? thanks for the help!

I have the F500BT set up without the amp but that is because I have an upgraded factory system with an amp and pioneers amp would not work with what I have. My current system is fine using the AUX in and the auto-adapter. The start up time is a pain but it works. A word of warning you need to have the F500BT volume all the way up. By default the volume defaults back to mid way when you turn off the unit.
