I was reading in the owners manual that you can receive alerts when you receive an sms. So can someone tell me how to turn it on?

its dependant on your phone. Some phones support the transfer so the avic warns you. My 700bt tells me I have a message when i get texts. I have a motorola razr. my buddy has the 700bt and his does not because his phone does not support it.

Sorry to be OT, but does anyone's phonebook sync automatically? According to that list posted above, my phone supports it (and it does in our BMW) but it never has with the F. I always have to go into the phone menu and select transfer phonebook, which takes a good 5 minutes to complete.

I had to transfer my contacts once but after that they are always listed there as long as my phone is paired with the device.

Mine will always be there too, but it doesn't update automatically. If I add one contact to my phone, I have to run the transfer all over again. On any other BT system i've used my phone with, the new contact(s) would show up automatically the next time the connection was made.

ohh i see what you are saying. I have not noticed that. I am 17 so i already have like 200 contacts, and i hardly ever talk to any of them so i never add anyone else's number so i dont know if mine does that or not, but i am sure that it does
