D3 outputs not working - no sub output

My D3 has been working for nearly a year now without a problem. My ground cable recently came off the amp while driving so it stopped playing the sub. I reconnected the ground a couple of weeks later and the amp powers on but doesn't receive a signal through the RCA's. I have the sub turned on through the D3. I connected my ipod directly to the amp to see if it worked with a different input and it did. I then tried a different set of rca cables from the HU to the amp and it still doesn't receive any signal. I tried the rear speaker output too just to see if it was only the sub output but had the same result. Is there something that can cause the a/v outputs to fail? I unstinstalled and reinstalled the whole HU to see if I had a loose connection.

I have seen things similar to this happen before... nearest I can figure is that when the ground cable came loose your amp tried to pull ground from ANY other source and unfortunately for you that ground source might have been through your RCA's which the current that would be required would be wayyyyyy too much and probably burned out the outputs... You have tried everything that I would have to troubleshoot your issue, you have eliminated a failure in the amp, eliminated the option of defective RCA's, eliminated the sub being turned off... that leads to one other thing... the D3 itself.

What are my options now?

Well did you buy the unit brand new? Is it still under warranty? If it is the output that is fried the only way to fix it is to replace the fried component on the board... could be a couple of different chips or tracers or the plug in the back of the unit itself. I guess the only way is to send it out for service.

I bought it brand new through crutchfield last fall. It's probably about 8 months old. How long is the warranty?

GOOD!!! You bought it through a licensed dealer... the unit has a standard one year warranty just like all other Pioneer products. Contact Pioneer's service http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PUSA/ ... AudioVideo

And they will take it from there... Retain a copy of a recipt for service they will need a copy.

I found my receipt and I actually bought it a year ago in April so no warranty for me. I called and they want $200 to repair it.

OUCH that sux... You could always try a place like Best Buy... they will take in things for repair that were not purchased there... The only thing is that they will take a nonrefundable shipping deposit before you ship it out. That fee is usaully around $40 bucks (vairies from product to product) then they will call you once they know what it will cost to fix. If you decide to fix it then they usually credit that shipping deposit to the repair cost, if you decide to not repair then you just lost that deposit thats all... usually Best Buy is pretty close to the same price to Pioneers charges but BB will get it back to you in about 2 weeks or so as opposed to Pioneers 6 to 8 weeks.

Pros and Cons to each you just have to choose!!
