Is there a FAQ for backing up/restoring an Avic F series? I've searched multiple forums and threads with the term backup and am going around in circles.

I can get to booting into testmode. Do I simply copy myflashdisk to the SD then keep it safe? Restoring would be the reverse? This doesn't seem to be written down anywhere.

Ya, that's all you need to do. Just save all the original files from the flash disk to an SD card or somewhere safe. If you ever mess something up you can just put all the original files back onto your AVIC.

what about if you flash wince with the new 3.0 will just copying the backup of my 2.006 flash disk still work?

I dont have the 3.0 update on my Avic yet but I'm guessing that if you want to restore your unit, you will need to restore it with the 3.0 updated files...but I'm not 100% sure.
