First things first. I am a Long time lurker with a question? and this website has been very helpful to me. Thanks for all the help.

Is there a steering wheel adapter out there that can learn new operational codes other than the factory ones? I have a '06 Ford F150 CrewCab, and it has steering wheel controls that I want to utilize with my new Z1.

Here's my idea, I have a button that does source select, it rotates between AM, FM, and AUX. The other side is a scan button. This is something that Ford changed from the previous years, it used to be a preset up button now it just scans up. So what I want to do is make the Source Select side of the button my Hands Free button so with the press of this button I can just call out which source I want, as well as destination, make a phone call, etc. With the scan up button, I would like to change this to preset up. I can't understand why Ford would have make it scan up. I want to leave the volume up and down alone, I love having that control at my finger tips.

If there is a unit out there that could do mulitpule pulses it would be even better. Something like a press and hold, or a double tap for a second and third control commmand for each button, or just as another direct access button to a specific control.

Anyone have any idea's, or kow of a unit?

You could use a Peripheral or PAC SWI-X, which basically copies whatever you teach it, like a universal remote. It has no idea what function is programmed, only reading a coded IR signal from your source remote. You will need to have a remote that will command whatever function it is that you would like to use, and you can only teach the SWI-X the steering wheel buttons that are already used for the audio system. You can reverse your volume, make seek up buttons change source, whatever your heart desires....

I use the hard wired PAC on my Aviator. I have programmed it so one of the steering wheel buttons (scan?...I can't remember) that I didn't use before now mutes (attenuates) the Z1. It's all in the programming. But unfortunately, you cannot use it to activate hands free. The Z1 does not have that capablilty through the hard wired port. You must use the infrared port...and that's why the infrared steering wheel control from Pioneer works. I have talked to PAC...they are more than willing to add the hands free capablitly to their module if Pioneer will make it compatible to their hard wired port.
