EU F700BT and Pillar Speakers

I have a VW Polo 9N3 which has 4 speakers - two in front doors and two pillar tweeters.

I've just noticed that the pillar speakers are not active. I don't think they ever have been.

Does anyone know if this is normal for this unit - ie they can't be used with the F700BT? I know it has 4 speaker input and a sub but maybe not tweeter speakers? I think the fitters must have used a harness adaptor from VW-ISO but I haven't taken out the unit to look.

Any ideas how to proceed? I'd like to use the speakers as I have them in the car! I've looked at fad/bal on the unit and if I put it all the way back to rear the sound goes off - so I guess the only input is the left right door speakers. Should this be rear? And the pillar tweeters Front? Or are they just not supported?

Normally, pillar tweeters are part of the front speaker (just installed elsewhere) and are fed from the same input as front midrange speakers, through a crossover. If you have disconnected them from a crossover when installing AVIC, that might explain why there's no sound...

That's really helpful - thanks - I think the fitters may have disconnected them from the crossover if this didn't fit into the VW harness. Is there an easy way of adding them back to the harness? I'll have to take it out to have a look to see if they are in.

I'm not sure how it is done in a VW, and how the original radio handled it. In my Audi (pretty much the same thing), crossovers are in the doors, so there's just one normal speaker output per side in the headunit, and crossover in the door divides the signal between midranges and tweeters. If you can take the speaker output and attach some other sound source to it, you could check if the tweeters still work...
