I really like what these avic units can do and I have been debating what I should buy. I am torn between the older f700bt/90bt models or the new x710BT that is out. Is anyone aware of any processor differences that make these newer models faster???? I'll be using an older ipod..I don't care much for the DVD...but I would like to take advantage of any firmware updates. Am I correct in assuming that the older F models are upgradeable to the new 3.0 frimware??? I am basically kind of looking for the most bang for the buck. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I didn't read your post but F Series plus 3.0 update = X Series. Save your money and get the F series.

The biggest reason for a leap to the 9x series is DVD playback.

If that's never going to to happen, an F7x series with the 3.0 upgrade is really close to being the same as the X-700

The only thing that's probably different is the apple authorisation chip in the x-series...
