buying an f700 or f900 while I can still get one at a decent price, I have read all about the issues and fixes and was just wondering what you guys that have either of them think about purchasing one. I have been the car audio business for years and have recently gotten out.

How have the units held up and are they really worth having??? Thanks for any input.

be sure to get one with the 3.x firmware on it - until the version 2.07 the speed and reliability really sucked.

For my opinion with the latest firmware, the units are worth their price. I can watch DVD, videos from USB & SD card, have an additional DVB-T tuner installed and two additional displays in the rear for the kids, where they can plug additional A/V sources (e.g. Playstation). I just came back from a long trip with my family - and it was the most relaxing trip ever . When I enter the car, my mobile phone connects automatically to the unit and for safety I have installed a rear camera. Much comfort for a little price compared to other vendors.

Thanks for the info, I have been looking at these units and I find them to quite interesting, I am willing to put up with quirks but not much more. The info here definitely can make or break the deal.

I am considering selling my 700bt with ipod cable and xm tuner. let me know if your interested and make me an offer.

Bimmernut, the emotions on the F series runs either hot or cold. Luck with the units seems kind of odd too. Granted most of the folks here are either modding them or looking to solve an issue, and you rarely hear ppl just randomly saying that XXXXX works just like its supposed to.

I've had my F700 for about 6 months and mine has only rebooted itself once, and that was caused by me with a bad file in a mod. Other than that mine has been perfect. Yes, a little slow at times, but nothing in the way of malfunctioning.

I can say that in the mornings heading to work, I have the radio audio playing by the time I get out of the driveway. If you leave it on Ipod or usb drive it takes longer. My bluetooth works great and I have no problems with it even at work.

I work at a Naval Air Station, even with all the RFI, radars etc bluetooth doesn't flinch.

Look around at places like 6ave.com, lots of folks here used them with good results.
