MY AV1 volume is very low, is this common?

also do I need to install the speed harness if I install GPS?

what speed harness? Do you mean the speed sensor wire? No you dont have to but your location will be much more accurate if you do.

the installer didnt install it, said no purpose said it was for old pioneers without gps

Go back and kindly tell him you paid for a full GPS install and that you want it hooked up!!! What it does is track where your driving if you lose gps signal (ie in cities with tall buildings, parking garages, streets with tons of trees, ect. One of the big reason for getting a 900 or a 90 is because it has this upgraded hardware!!! I would tell you to do it yourself it's not that hard BUT you paid for install and they should finish it.
