Hi Everyone,

Newb here, i appologise if this has already been asked/answered, but i couldnt see it anywhere when searching.

I am currently in the USA where i have installed a 90BT in my car. I am moving back the uk and am looking to ship my car with me. Obviously, the US/Canada maps are not a great deal of use in England. As this device has Flash memory, i assume there MUST be a way of doing it. I am even open to paying for the maps as it would be cheaper than having to sell the unit with every add on, and then purchase one in the uk.

Can someone help me, there may be a reward if someone can help me out!! :-)

Thanks in advance,

Graham

Hi Graham,

I have the F900BT unit from the US and using it in Ireland with the EU maps so yes it is possible.

You just need to download the hacked ezrider.exe file and also you need a license file that will allow you to use the maps.

All these can be found in the forum, if you cant find it let me know and I'll send you those files. :D

Hi,

I've just bought (Ebay) and installed a f90BT - seemed like a bargain. But I didn't realise that it isn't like the F900bt.

Most of it's working now but I really need to get the mapping working. I have the europe DVD's but the drive won't recognise them.

I suspect it a region coding thing. Is it possible to get the drive region free? How would I do that? Is there a work around?

Also whats up with the radio? Can that be fixed?

I know this is a big ask but could anyone who knows about modding this stuff possibly fix it for me?

I'd be happy to 'come to an arrangement' for your time and trouble.

I'm in Essex but would be prepared to bring the car to you at a time thats convenient.

Thanks,

Ethan,

The radio cannot be fixed afaik and you wont be able to change the drive region. Only burning your doovdes region free will work I'm afraid.

I knew that before I bought mine and I don't listen to the radio and burn my own doovdes  I also tried to see if I could somehow change the region etc. :(

I presume the f90bt has the same maps as f900bt. You just need to access the unit by using the testmode trick and copy couple of appropriate files to appropriate folders and happy days  .

All the info how to do that can be found on the forum as well.

If you need any help just ask :)

so does this mean that if you change the firmware from the usa to the uk, the fm radio will not work in the uk? thats not good!,

so what would work if i changed this to a EU unit?

also, i think the 90BT differs from the 900BT in that it has 3d mapping and a high power output, i dont know what else is different

The radio will work ok but it still wont tune properly. I have EU update on mine it basically didn't add or remove anything.

OK thanks I'll give it a go then. So I copy/burn the discs to a DVD-r making them region free (or Region1). Plus some files - I'll check it out. Can't believe nobody wanted to make a quick £50++++ in cash though.

You can send that £50 to me if you like

Basically if you want to watch dvds on it you need to burn them "region free" or just rip em to divx and burn few on one disc 8)

For the maps- download testmode.zip and extract the contents to empty 2GB SD card, put the card in the unit, switch on ignition and allow unit to boot, some files will copy, close the window that says OK and you are in. Back up all the contents of the flash disk to the SD card FIRST!!! and then after downloading the ezrider.exe and license file copy them to the appropriate folders in APL2/iGO .

I posted a video on the forum showing it etc. let me dig it out ;)

Thanks to boots for uploading it to youtube.
