With all the wires from the harness plus the power adapter lead I am confused. I bought this system to be portable like a Garmin, plug it in to the Power Port, turn it on, and away we go. Is it necessary to hook up the extra yellow power lead, the parking brake wire, and whatever else??? I merely want to plug and play. Can someone please explain, as I am quite confused having received a stack of wiring and plugs ???

Thanks in advance. :?

You only need the power plug and the unit itself. All the additional wires that came with the package are used if you want to fully integrate the navigation into your car. I only use the cigarette adapter and unit.

You can do exactly that, just plug in the power from your lighter and away you go.

You will need the cradle however to be powered via the supplied harness if you want to use MSN Direct or feed the audio to an existing aux port, or to make it all work with the ND-G500 amp. Once you power the cradle, the F500 will recognize its on a 'fixed' install and will require the brake wire hack, yellow power etc..
