'06 4runner JBL Synthesis - can I use the factory amps?

Can you please help me out by answering a quick question? Thanks..

I have an ’06 4runner, sport edition with the jbl 6 disc synthesis system. I decided not to go with an in dash system like the Pionner Z-1 because more than one dealer told me that I cannot use the jbl amps for powering my speakers since the amplifiers rely on a “digital†signal that is unique to the jbl synthesis head unit. In other words, I would have to gut out my system and replace everything or hide the factory head unit somewhere in the car so that the amps can still be turned on by this “digital†signal. I have also heard other explanations like: “they make wiring harnesses for my head unit but I will lose the functionality of my center channel (rem that my system is 5.1 surround).

Do they sell a wire harness that will allow me to use my existing factory JBL Synthesis amplifiers to power my speakers, receiving input from a head unit like the pioneer Z1? Again, I am told that there is NO way that I can “turn on†my factory amplifiers without the factory head unit.

Thanks for your help folks!

In my experience no you can't turn on the factory amp without the stock radio. I've tried in the past and nothing I've been able to do would turn on the factory amp.

Sorry to dissapoint. Though maybe someone else here has had better luck than I.

There is a solution available from Integration solutions that has been tested on the 4-Runner. Here's a link to the adapter.

Thanks for your replies folks!

The same part is available on installer.com for 99.95 as opposed to ebay's price which is higher.

Does anyone know how well this harness works - first hand?

THanks
