Wire gauges and Component power

Today I am receiving my head unit and wiring harness. I would like to do the soldiering of the wire connections tonight so I can do the complete install tomorrow afternoon.

Can someone please tell me the gauge of the wires on the Crutchfield harness and the wire leads from the AVIC so that I can buy the correct shrink insulation this afternoon?

Also, does anyone have any suggestions on where to draw power from for the XMnav unit and Ipod units? I will be installing into a 2003 Tiburon GTv6.

Thanks!!

Not sure of the wire guage, but in terms of where to draw the power for the iPod and Sirius (or did you say XM, can't remember), solder two extra wires to the yellow wire (constant 12V) on the crutchfield harness so that you have a total of 3 wires coming off the constant power wire in the car's harness. One goes to the Nav, one to the Xm, one to the iPod. You can do the same with the grounds.

So I don't have to worry about drawing too much power from the constant power line feeding the radio? I forget from my physics days, but I thought that doing so what change the amps I'm drawing and I overload the wire. Correct me if I'm wrong.

They don't draw near the amount of current to do that. Just powering one small circuit board in each
