d3 location and time issues

I'm a little new to the forum, i searched but didn't find any answer to my problem. I drive a 2006 scion tC if that makes a difference.

Ive had my avic-d3 for almost 2 years now. i got it in November 2007. it has worked flawlessly until now. i went on vacation for a week. i came back and the gps said i was in the wrong spot. That was fine i edited the position and it was fine until i got out of my neighborhood. The gps said i was driving through the woods and rivers and was always turning me the wrong direction and weird things. My next thought was the 3d calibration was off, so i reset it. Now 3d calibration is initializing and i have driven 2000 miles and it hasn't even shown any signs of learning (bars filling).

Also this whole time, the time jumps around a lot. One minute it will be perfect and the next itll be exactly 4 hours off. It jumps back and forth.

I have tried moving the sensor around and it still doesn't fix anything. I've reset the unit around 20 times hoping for a fix but still nothing. The connection says 4 satellites and all connections say ok. I have pulled out the headunit and checked all the connections to the back and they are all solid (soldered with heat shrink around them). The VSS, speed, reverse, etc are all connected to their appropriate locations. I'm beginning to think that the gps sensor went bad, or the head unit itself just died. The audio/video stuff all works perfectly as well. That led me to my gps sensor problem. I also haven't tried the new discs with the new updates and stuff on it. That was my next fix since i can try and find them online.

During my vacation, there was a series of bad thunderstorms which may have led to the problem.

I had the same problem with two D3's. It is defective and will need repairing or replacing.

I've read on here that just about every repair is a minimum of $200.
