the 710 is the new model and the 700 is discontinued, the software is a little different on the 710 (the 700 can be updated to the new software) and they changed the look just a little bit
Pretty much nothing after you update the software.
X series models have LED backlight for their LCD display (F series have small fluorescent tube), plus Apple authentication chip for ipods.
The DVD player is supposed to be quieter than in the F700 according to a Pioneer tech on the 800 number. The knob is different.
actually there is no DVD player on either of the two units.
The f90, f900, and the x910 are a different story

You are correct, I mis-spoke. When I called I asked about the F900/x910 and thought we were talking about the F900BT the moment I wrote that.
Sorry. I do that time to time.
cool cool, i'm picking up what your dropping ![]()
So if the apple authentication chip is different in the f series and x series, what difference does it make? Does it support more iPods or something? And does the LED backlit screen of the x series look that much better than the flourescent tube of the f series?

I can't state whether or not it looks better, but for sure the display should last longer and the brightness should remain more consistent over the years since LEDs do not fade in brightness.
