TA=TeleAtlas NV=Navteq

I've been trying out the difference between the 090424 TeleAtlas maps and the 090609 (Q1 09) Navteq maps (with the respective basemaps (0408 for NV and 0209 for TA).

I believe I have the standard 3d building files from the stock EU V3

Things I've noticed:

1. 7 digit postcode searching in the NV maps is much better than the TA maps for the UK. Two postcodes that I previously could not access using the TA maps worked with the NV maps.

2. Routing seems faster with the NV maps in the UK

2. Lane information does not seem to be available with the NV maps. Perhaps this is to do with the (older) NV basemap?

I've stuck with the NV maps for now. Would be nice to have the lane info - but I think the ease of 7 digit UK post code searching made the difference for me.

I was under the impression that NV/TA building files were not interchangeable between maps - but regardless of what maps I am using the building files seem to work ok, as do the POI files (I think they are independent of map type)

Thanks for posting, when you say NV maps do you mean navteq?

I have been testing both Navteq and teleatlas and found that the Navteq maps lacked speed limit information in many areas.

Yes - post amended to clarify.

I didn't look at speed info. But I imagine that will be the same as for you. I would prefer to have better post code searching with the TA maps. Perhaps in the next map update it will be better.
