Can i disable speed camera urgent alert ? F910

Is it possible to disable the urgent alert for the speed cameras ? I'm talking about the siren which sounds when i'm near a camera and driving over the speed limit, i still want to keep the aproaching beep.

It might seem like an odd request, the reason is, around where i live there's quite a few 40mph limits with cameras but my f910 thinks it's a 30mph limit so it's going nuts at me even though i'm under the 40mph limit.

The only way i can get rid of the siren is to disable alerts completely or turn down the master volume, but then i don't get nav voice guidance.

I'm sure what i need to do is a hack but i haven't got into that side of things yet, although i hope to soon.

Is someone knows how to do this and can post easy to understand instructions that'd be great.

Thanks.

Paul.

You'd need to install one of the modified skins to have extra controls over speedcam notifications. In the meanwhile, you could simply edit cameras you know are wrong.

Hi Boris, thanks for the reply.

What do you mean by "modified skins" ?

Is that a hack ?

Hacking and modding is definitely something i want to get into but i'm not really sure what to do, i've downloaded the testmode file and read the instructions on what to do with that but i don't know what to do after that.

Can you point me in the right direction, another thread maybe.

Thanks again, Paul.

Well, they are hacks, in a sense, but all you need to do is download a DATA.ZIP from the Hacks thread, boot into testmode, and copy it into iGO directory. Reboot, and you have a completely new Navi :)

Eh, completely new navi ? That sounds interesting to me, a person who likes messing about with things.

I'm really new to this head unit and the hacking, all i want to do is change just a few things (for now, probably until i realise what else can be done), such as the annoying "urgent" "slow the fu*k down" alert, the beep is fine though, i want to keep that.

I've seen a video tutorial about getting into testmode and getting into the files, i've downloaded the testmode file from this forum so is it a case of going into testmode, finding the audio file of the "urgent" alert and deleting it ?

If so can someone tell me the name of that file ?

Or is it more of a hack than that ?

Can you send me a link to the correct data zip please.

The other thing i want to do is sort out the navi voice, when listening to the radio or dvd, the voice is a comfortable level which i set it at and from the front speakers, however when i'm listening to the usb or sdhc card the voice comes from the rear speakers very loud. Can this be sorted ?

I'm finding it hard being a newbie because in my chosen profession i'm not a newbie, put a pro video camera in my hand and i can shoot and edit good, i'm a video producer, so i know my way round tech stuff usually.

The sound itself is one of the "!alertX.wav" files in the AUDIO folder of DATA.ZIP. If you want the minimally-invasive fix, you could replace it with something less grating. Installing an entirely new DATA.ZIP (easiest... try Stanislavovich's mod from the "New Nav Mod" thread or IDT's mod from his thread) will let you actually control if you want to be warne? about certain things or not.

Ok so lel me get this right before i go any further,

step 1 is make a back up, according to these instructions,

http://avic411.com/wiki/index.php/Backu ... g_software

then i use the sd card with the MiTACAP and testmode folder to go into testmode but how do i put the datazip file into the nav ? Do i copy the datazip file to the sd card aswell before i put the card into the head unit ?

If so were on the sd card do i copy it to ? The root ?

If i could have some detailed step by step instructions that'd be great.

I want to try this mod asap but want to make sure i get it right.

Thanks, Paul.

does your unit have the 2.0 firmware or the 3.0 firmware? the testmode from the wiki just works for the 2.0, for you to be able to boot into testmode on the 3.0 you have to have the testmode v2.3,

Hi ill.die.trying.

My unit is an f910.

I have the latest version 3 from the pioneer site, i installed it a few days ago, along with speed camera updates.

I have a testmode file, from this website, it has the 2 folders inside but nowhere does it say what version it is.

Where can i get v2.3 testmode ?

Thanks.

Paul.

It's in the Hacks forum.

I've had a look in the hacks forum, all links i can find point to testmode but don't say which version and they seem to be old posts which indicate an old version of testmode.

For example, this thread,

viewtopic.php?f=34&t=18977

it shows where to get the testmode from but the post was made in October last year so i presume it's an old testmode.

All i want to do at first is back up my unit.

For regulars on this forum it's easy to find these things because they know where everything is, i go on other forums and know where everything is.

Wandering round this forum i feel like i'm in a supermarket where i don't usually shop, i KNOW what i need is here but i just don't know where things are, that's why i asked for a link.

Thanks, Paul.

Yay, cheers Boris, downloading it now.

Thanks, Paul.

Right, me again, i've downloaded the file, i was expecting a zip folder with 2 other folders inside, what i got instead was a rar file, what do i do with that ? Where do i put it etc ?

Thanks, Paul.

Ok, using 7zip, i exctracted the files into a folder, that new folder does have a load of stuff in it,

testmode> utils (and other stuff), > other stuff.

Now what ?

Sorry if i'm asking dumb questions and bugging people.

Thanks, Paul.

It's all in the thread, but generally, just extract the whole thing to an SD card, insert the card into AVIC, and turn it on... You get a normal Windows desktop. Use Total Commander icon to bring up a (better than stock) file manager, and copy away...
