New Z2 won't power up

I purchased a new Z2 about a year and a half ago and just today finally got around to installing it in my project car (67 Camaro). I hooked up the hot and switched along with the ground. It took a few attempts with the key to get the Z2 to respond, but after hitting the reset button one of the times, it powered on. I next tried the 2-wire bypass by moving the mute wire from connector 1 to the bottom right location on connector 2. I then grounded it and the e-brake wire. Now I get nothing. No lights, no splash screen, nothing. I have since removed everything except for the hot, switched and ground and still get nothing. I have tried the reset with the ignition on and off. I have also tried the reset & eject and release the eject, but I still get nothing. The buttons don't even light up, but the fan does run when the ignition is on.

Any ideas? I hate the fact I have had this unit so long and am just now installing it, but I am buttoning up the wiring in the car and would like to get this resolved soon, too much money and time invested in a car that I can't drive. I can button up the other wiring to get the car moving, but I hate the idea of taking everthing apart later to get the radio working.

Thanks,

Don

I assume you have a strong battery? this thing takes alot of juice.

It's a new battery, Autocraft Titanium (1,000amps). It also doesn't turn on if the car is running. I hate the idea of this radio not working, I've had it too long to return and it's not under waranty. Any other ideas?

Thanks,

wow a Z2 in a 67 Camaro? I dont think the harness can provide the power needed to keep the unit running. Try powering it directly to the Battery and a good ground

I have an aftermarket (Painless) wire harness. What kind of power should it be getting? I've relocated the battery in the trunk so it won't be easy to get a direct powerfeed from the battery, but will that solve my problem? It's driving me nuts! I just can't tell if I have got it hooked up wrong, or if it has a blown internal fuse.

Thanks,

If you can get alteast 10amps of 12v positive to the RED and YELLOW wires, and negative to the BLACK, it would power up. Check the inline fuses on the Red and Yellow wires as previously mentioned.

I hooked it up directly to the battery and still nothing. This leads me to believe that I have some issues with the internals of the unit. I still get the fan to kick on, but nothing else. I have sent an e-mail to Pioneer, but am not holding my breath. I see some people offering flat rate servicing on ebay, has anyone had any luck with it? I dropped way too much money in this car to buy another radio, but my dash has been customized to fit this unit. This blows!

I sent the unit to Pioneer and got it back today. Not too bad, they only had it for 2 days. It needed a new keyboard. Just my luck. Well, I guess $200 is less than a new one. Thanks for the advise.
