Hello guys,

I just came across this site when I was trying to found out on google what is going on with my F500BT...

I hope you guys can help me out.

I hooked up the F500bt using the supplied car harness. I then bought the ND-G500 amp unit and hooked it up.

Here is my problem, when I turn the car on the stereo will work until the F500bt comes on then it mutes the stereo and the F500bt plays through the car speakers. If I turn the F500bt off the stereo plays through the car speakers like normal.

I also checked and if I turn "AV" off the stereo will play through the speakers but then the F500BT does not play through the speakers.

Does anyone have a explanation for this. I was under the belief that the ND-G500 was suppose to let my stereo play through the speakers until the F500BT gives directions in which case it would mute the stereo while it gave them.

Also on a side note, I have to select "AV Source" video then hit AV at the "AV Source Screen" to get it to even play the F500bt through the speakers is that the way it is suppose work?

It sounds like normal F500 behavior. I assume you have something connected to the AV source, e.g. an iPod. If so, the F500 will not unmute unless you turn off that source. Even if you pause the iPod, it will still not unmute. You must either disconnect the iPod or turn the source to off. However, the nav voice/bluetooth phone work differently. The nav voice should mute and unmute the F500. A bluetooth phone should only mute when making a call. So really, the only somewhat strange thing is the iPod. I suppose since the sound is generated by the iPod and not the F500, the F500 assumes that as long as it is connected to an iPod something is playing and it should mute the stereo - even when the iPod is silent. I tend to leave my iPod disconnected since leaving it plugged in causes the the F500 to reboot every time I start the car. If you unplug it before turning off the ignition, the F500 will simply hibernate and pick up where you left off the next time you start the car. This is especially nice since it can take a while to pick up the GPS signal from a reboot, but only seconds from hibernate.
