Hello, I was wondering if someone could please help me out. I've had a D3 for 2 years with no problems until this month. My D3 just shut off out of nowhere and wouldnt turn back on. About 2 days later, the D3 was functioning again, so I thought it was just a fluke. However, within a few days, the D3 died again. This odd occurrence repeated twice more, until finally the D3 refused to turn back on. My factory radio and lights still work in my Accord 03. Please help. Thanks!

Sounds like a possible problem with the power supply, and/or connections to the unit. Did you check those before you reinstalled the OE radio? Was the radio reset when it rebooted (i.e. presets and other custom settings still there?)

i agree with the above post, to make sure that the problem is with the AVIC and not somthing with the car, you would need to test for voltage at the pioneer harness WHILE it is not functioning, there could be a loose wire or a bent pin in the harness that intermitently is cutting off the flow of power to the unit. or i could just be a problem with something inside the AVIC

Thank you both for the replies. After the reset (when the D3 woke up again), all system settings were also reset.

I will try this out and update on the results for everyone.

if the settings where reset, it would make me belive that if it is a problem with the wiring it would be with either the ground or the constant wire (yellow) and not the ACC (red) wire

Sorry to bump old threads, but it seems that my Avic has done the same thing. I've taken a multimeter to all wires, and everything checks out. No wires are loose, no pins bent... anyone have a clue how I should go about fixing this? My Avic has been by my side for almost 3 years, and I don't want to have to replace it.

well if there is a good ground, and power to both the constant and ACC power wires and the fuse is fine, then it sounds like there is a problem inside the radio itself, if your not familiar with radio repair, its probably time to send it off to pioneer for repair.

Yeah, that's what I figured. I went out and picked up an AVH-P4200DVD, and it works perfectly on the same harness. I guess I was just asking if anyone knew what the actual problem was (inside the unit, that is) so I could replace the necessary parts. But thanks! :D
