How to do a 'clean' restore ?

Hi all,

I have managed to break my AVIC somehow, initial problem was that the bluetooth app failed to load and trying to initialised it manually (by turning bluetooth on then off) caused a Windows app launch error and a unit reboot.

As I have a backup of the stock 'My Flash Disc' I decided to do a restore by booting into testmode and using Total Commander to copy my backup back onto the AVIC. This removed my mods , fixed the bluetooth issue but, created a new problem. The launching of the map now causes 'texture load' errors.

Can I do a complete wipe of the 'My Flash Disc' and testmode will still boot or are there some essential files on the flashdisc ? (if so , what are the minimum files needed to boot testmode?)

Is all the memory on the AVIC cleared when the unit is switched off (excluding the 'My Flash Disc') or does the car battery need to be disconnected for a complete memory clear ?

Thanks

I have done a complete restore from my factory 3.010100 backup and I am still getting texture errors (says bad hash) when launching the map (after the nag screen is ok'd).

Any ideas ? (I know the backup is good)

Just completed another full restore and this time I get a fatal application error from av.exe

This suggests to me that the copy process from SD to Flash is 'introducing' crc errors.

Are there any apps that 'verify' during backup and restore so the files are confirmed as correct.

Is there a 'dump' of the EW 3.0 (or later) software so that I can try that out to do a full restore (in case the initial backup was corrupt) ?

OK, think I have fixed my issues but this experience has left me with concerns.

Third restore I deleted all but the files in the root directory of the flashdisc and then copied my backup onto the flashdisc. This time when I rebooted there were no errors and everything appears to be working.

My concern is , if when copying files from flash to SD there is a chance of errors then there is no way to be sure that a backup (or restore) is 100%. Is there a way with Total Commander to do a backup/restore with a verify ?
