Setting Default City in 3.0

After upgrading to 3.0, my default city for looking up addresses became Buffalo, NY. That's an hours drive away from my home town. My home address is entered as a Rochester, NY address. Does anyone know how to change to default city? It's a real pain to have too change it to Rochester every time I have to look up a local location, which is the majority of the time. My car has never been to Buffalo, so I have no idea how that became the default.

Same here. I just did the update and my default city is Los Angeles even though I'm in NY. How do I fix this?

reset user settings

I've gone through several mods and resets and it's always the same. I use the IDT mods and I delete all of my user data each time I 'upgrade' to his latest mod. There is mention in your sys txt about default location. I just don't know the coordinates of my current location to change it. My default city is Columbus Ohio, about 110 miles away from my city.

Never mind. After running the nav. it automatically fixed the default city to the correct one. Hope the same goes for others.

I have run the Nav many times since upgrading and it hasn't changed yet. Still hoping someone has an answer.

Sounds to me like you might have a bad connection to your gps antenna.

It's not a problem with the antenna, the GPS works great! The only problem I am having (knock on wood) with the 3.0 upgrade is the default city is locked on Buffalo. I can change it to another city and it will find and route me to the selected locations, but the next time I go to input another location, it comes up with Buffalo as the default.

change the values of these code in your sys.txt and that should fix it

default_latitude="34.05116"

default_longitude="-118.24258"

I finally got to change my default settings and it did not change the Columbus default city. Anybody find a definite answer yet?

I have the same issue, it gives me Toronto instead of Ottawa as the default. My home address in an Ottawa address and I have used the Nav 100's of times in the city (I get lost otherwise) and still, default Toronto.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Move to Toronto........ (sorry, I couldn't help it) :D

I called Pioneer and they said that is the way the new system works. First she told me that "it defaults to the capital of the state", and I asked her what year our capital of NY changed from Albany to Buffalo? LOL What I do is just to the right of the default city is: HISTORY, just a touch there and you can hit your home town. Not a fix, but a quick work around.

I did try changing the sys.txt and it didn't help.

Haha, I think my mom would be happy if I moved back there but my wife might kill me! :lol:

I'm having the same problem. It appears that the default city that shows when entering an address is the nearest major city to the one you're in.

So, when I'm in Dallas, it shows Fort Worth. When I'm in Austin, it shows Houston.

Has anyone been able to fix this?

Well, this may make me look like a jerk, but I figured I'd share:

Thank you for contacting Pioneer Electronics, Inc.

I understand your request and the way it should work.

The engineers made the changes to the design.

We provide feedback to the engineers and request changes.

At this time, there are no updates planned for the unit.

Thank You,

"Normal" is not acceptable - it worked properly prior to the v3 upgrade

which I paid $60 for, just a couple of months after spending $800 on the

device. I'd rather hear that this is a known issue and will be corrected

in a future release.

Is there an expected patch or fix coming?

Thank you for contacting Pioneer Electronics, Inc. I have reported your issue to our engineers for investigation. Unfortunately there is not a way to correct the address search. This is normal for our CNSD-100FM upgrade and the AVIC-X series. Thank You, Rocky Customer Service Representative

Inquiry:I have an F90BT and purchased the v3 update. Since installing, the default city when entering a GPS into the navigation system is the largest city next to me. For example, when I am in Dallas, it shows Fort Worth as the default city. When I travel to Austin, TX, it shows Houston, TX as the default city. How can I fix this?
