I'm just about ready to smash my F700 into the concrete

I have vigilantly stood by Pioneer through all their promises for better software, bug fixes and the like. I have finally had enough today.

I ordered the update, paid $60 for it from Crutchfield. Installed SD #1, worked great. Onward to SD #2, the map update. Failed at 3%. Oh, woops. Reinsert card, failed again. I called Pioneer and their "award winning" support only to be on hold for upwards of 25 minutes to be told that my SD cards were bad and promptly hung up on. I called Crutchfield and requested a replacement. The best part is that the unit NEVER gets past asking for the update SD card. I can't reset it any way to make it usable while I'm waiting for the SD card to arrive. A week later, its in. Throw the card back in the unit and.. oh.. failed at 3% again.

After fifteen minutes waiting for their award winning technical support, the "tech" tells me that the SD card is likely good and that its something wrong with my unit. I don't think he could have gotten more obvious than that. I get the address to mail it to and he tells me to include my receipt. "Why?" I ask. He explains that if I don't, I could be charged labor for being out-of-warranty. So, their defective update caused my unit to be completely useless and now I have to pay to at least get it operational again. He also informs me that I need to print out a copy of my new media password from the website and mail that in as well. Now, and this really takes the cake, the website says my new media number from my RMAd SD card from Crutchfield is "already in use." I make one more call to Pioneer to ask them wtf to do about this cluster; their response "Oh I don't know, maybe just print out a copy of the page for the tech."

I swear, this past couple of weeks really makes me wish I would have sent this piece of shit back to newegg to get any kind of refund possible.

Thanks for letting me vent. This unit really is a gigantic piece of shit for the trouble we've put up with.

Search the hacks and mods forums for solutions to upgrade your unit using testmode. The hacked way will probably work without issue and will probably get your unit back up and running. At least to the point at which you can sell it.

Thats probably what will happen after I get it back from Pioneer; fixed or not, is to get it in working order and dump it on someone else. Kenwood's 8120 is lightyears ahead of this piece of junk.
