F500 doesn't suspend in TEST MODE

I'm sure many of you have experienced this with your F500. We're lucky in that we have a battery in our unit, so when you hit the power button, the unit goes into standby, which is very quick to wake up from. In test mode though, it shuts all the way down. I'm wondering what determines this different behavior and if we can make it suspend again.

I'd like to use test mode all the time for the leetlauncher and some other apps I've written on my own. But having no suspend blows.

My idea would be to edit the boot image and add the leetlauncher and my apps and then flash the unit to make it permanent. I haven't found an EASY way to do this yet. It's moderately easy to extract the files from the stock image, but sounds pretty crazy to roll them up into a new image that will actually work (right checksum, etc).

Any help out there?
