Hi,

I recently had an F10BT installed in my A3 with can-bus connected and I'm finding the GPS tracking is always a consistent 30 mtrs behind where it should be. I'm getting full satellite readings. Has anyone else experienced this problem or know what could be causing it?

Also noticed when playing my ipod through the unit that the album images are poor and not clear at all?

cheers.

Where is your GPS antenna?

under the dash but well away from the unit.

Being inside the car will do that. My elevation is always off at least 30 ft and if I put the antenna outside of the cabin, it reads the correct elevation (which in my case is 3ft).

by elevation do you also mean distance? Does it matter that I'm getting full sat reception, would it still somehow be distorted?

thanks mate.

No, I mean elevation. My driveway is 1 ft above sea level. My antenna sits two and a half feet from the driveway, so it is at 3.5 ft above sea-level. And my GPS records exactly this when the antenna is outside the cabin. But, when it is beneath the windshield like now, it is always 30-40ft higher than actual elevation. What I'm getting at is the attenuation caused by plastic, glass and whatever else is between your dash and the sky is causing your unit to be wrong.

Oh ok so that would be causing it to always be off. Would this be the same for everyone though? I spoke to pioneer who advised that under the dash shouldn't be a problem but what you're saying makes sense. Was your distance also wrong or just the elevation. Also noticed the standard mic is really poor when installed in the Audi mic position (in the lighting fixture) probably due to the mic type used by pioneer. Do you know of a better one which doesn't have areas exposed around the mic - I think this is causing the issue.

thanks mate.

My location is usually right, its only elevation deal that gives me trouble. I don't know that you could say everyone has the problem, but this thing was designed to be mounted on metal on the exterior surface of the car and both of us are doing neither. Try putting your antenna outside the car one day to see what happens. I'm pretty sure it'll get accurate immediately.

I'll take a pic of my mic location, it picks up voice pretty good where it is now.

even though its a huge pic, you get the idea
