Hey All,

I'm trying to find out if I paid too much at the dealer for my unit. I paid $1800 and that, of course, includes the warranty that matches length of the warranty for my GTI. It has bluetooth and the iPod adapter, and connects to the buttons on my steering wheel.

Yea you essentially paid enough to buy three f700's which is the same unit.

Well, as far as I understand, the 700 has a much shorter warranty period. I understand that the unit is much cheaper, but I'm not considering that one in my comparison. The 7010 was installed under the direction of the dealer, included accessories, and comes with a longer warranty. I just want to compare apples to apples, so if anybody has gotten the F7010BT through their (car) dealer, I'd like to see what's what.

You could have bought two units with 3 year extended warrantys and still had about 600 hundread bucks left over. You asked if you were over charged by going through the dealer. You were horribly over charged in this case. The 7010 and the 700 are exactally the same unit. The 7010 modle number just means it is purchased through the dealer.

Pardon my language, but you got fucked. There is nothing they offered to you worth that price tag. Essentially they charged you for the unit and made $1200 in labor charges. Warranty? lol.

Thanks for the replies. I guess I am stuck with it now, even though I like the unit with the v3 firmware. It would be a nearly flawless unit (for me) if it recognized the iPod with ever restart of the car. I am excellent with negotiating new car prices, but the AVIC was an impulse buy, so I will make sure to only get stock radio equipment next time.

Any ideas what others are paying for these through the dealership?

If they are buying through the dealership the sky is probably the limit. No one is saying you made a bad choice. It all boils down to what you are satisfied with. If the warranty peace of mind is what you were after then I would say you got that piece of mind. It is certainly not what I would have done but all that matters is what is important to you. In the future however, I would price check a little more if you feel you have been had.
