do you get a screen randomly saying something about it not being grounded to the parking brake blah blah blah press ok????

Only if the bypass is not done correctly or one of the wires is not grounded properly. It is common that the relocated wire is not properly seated causing a short of the wire. Recheck your connections.

alright what is the more correct way to have them grounded all of them separate or both to the black ground wire?

It doesn't matter as long as they are grounded. What you need to check is where the wires connect to the back of the plug that inserts into the unit. It is usually the relocated wire that is the problem. The bottom line is if the screen is giving that warning there IS a problem somewhere with the wiring or a misstep in the interpretation of the bypass instructions.

well for the bypass, i took the yellow wire and moved it over 1 pin, and took the hand brake and grounded it, ill have to open it up and check it.

Ok well if that is exactly how you did then you missed a step. As I said, go back and read the instructions again. If it doesn't work its not done correctly.

those are the instructions there correct???

Yes but you stated in the last post you only grounded the p brake wire. If that is correct then you didn't do the bypass correctly.

im pretty sure i also grounded the yellow 1 im gonna have to take a look at it. maybe something got knocked loose, because the first couple days i had it nothing was popping up then the last 2 days i was getting that message.

Posted Nov 18, 2009 · 20:43 UTC#10

i soldered the yellow and parking break wire to the black wire (ground) from the radio.

is that wrong?

Posted Nov 18, 2009 · 20:53 UTC#11

No that is correct. The problem is likely at the back of the unit where the wires go into the plug inserted in the back of the unit. As I said earlier. It is common that the relocated wire is not properly seated in the slot when it is relocated. Incidentally, when you get the warning message, what are you doing on the unit at that time. Please be very specific and detailed in your response.

im driving. and playing my ipod, then it will come on. sometimes it will come on right away sometimes it wont i dont think it matters if i hit the "ok" button yet for the navigation.

Posted Nov 18, 2009 · 21:40 UTC#13

What does the warning say.

Posted Nov 18, 2009 · 23:09 UTC#14

crap next time i get in the car ill take a picture of it, i dont remember it word for word, but it says something about it not being on the parking break saftey hazard please check manual on to properly do it or something like that, and then it makes me hit ok and then everything is normal.

Try resetting the deck. If the message comes back, then you did the bypass wrong as he was telling you above

Posted Nov 19, 2009 · 02:07 UTC#16

Go into the NAVI SETTINGS screen and verify the PARKING BRAKE is ON. If it is then that part is grounded properly. The problem at that point will certainly be the relocated wire.

Posted Nov 19, 2009 · 07:15 UTC#17

ok so all and all that is not suppose to happen correct.

Posted Nov 19, 2009 · 07:18 UTC#18

If the p brake wire is grounded properly it will say ON. So that part is grounded correctly. That would indicate the problem is with the relocated wire.

No, if the bypass is done correctly.

Well i checked and it said parking break on, while im driving and im in the system settings ill see the icons get grayed out and come back, so it must be a loose wire or something, i might pull it off tonight and recheck it.. so you think its that yellow wire that i had to move 1 over???

what if i pull it off and it seems to be stably set. then what?

Posted Nov 20, 2009 · 01:32 UTC#21

Why don't you just recheck your install like I have suggested here many times now before you start trying to concern yourself with a "then what" situation. The problem is with one of those two wires, period. Fix it and the problem will go away.

yea i need to get time to rip everything out.
