For a non techno whatever feeling pretty proud of myself. :D I read up on the mod from Ducatiboy and did the parking brake mod this am. I "borrowed" some wiring from a old pc in the attic for the pin to go in the connector. Found the light green wire and joined then grounded them. The first time I pulled it out and looked I had no idea how small that little wire was. Looked at radio shack for a connector to get the piece from and then remembered the old PC in the attic.

Thanks for the help Ducatiboy. I don't need to watch dvd's while driving but after flying a helicopter all day feel qualified to mess with the nav enroute.

I am glad I made the decision to have the local shop do the install however. There are a lota wires back there with the Ipod, Bluetooth, and Sirius hooked up.

Welcome to avic411 and to brand new ownership of a Z1! the z1 really is a nice unit. I wanted to get one so bad, and had the $$, but my truck is only 1.5DIN! :( LOL

Any questions just ask!!

Thanks,

All the functions are working just fine. I do have 1 question. On startup it says that the parking brake has been improperly hooked up.

Will that screen always pop up? Not a big deal just wondering.

Thanks again.

Reset the unit with the recessed button to the right of the eject button. then it will go away. If it ever comes back you have a problem with the bypass, specifically the connector 2 wire.

Thanks I'll get up off the sofa and give it a shot.

Ducatiboy

Thanks the reset worked perfect.

No nag screen.

I have a 2006 Tundra with the JBL system. I used the digital interlink on the install and this head unit brings it out quite a bit. The navi choice of routes around town is a little odd. I saw the map data is from 2005 do they update this from time to time?

Thanks again

Remember if the nag screen comes back you have a problem with the wire in connector 2 in the bypass.

They do update the maps on occasion, they haven't done it for the Z1 yet. Don't hold your breath either :) I bet you wouldn't see an update for the map for another year. The more you use it, the smarter the routing generally gets.
