Has anyone been able to successfully use the Zune HD and its USB cable with the Z110? I would really appreciate any help on this.

Only by interfacing with the AV1 or AV2 inputs. You will need a Zune AV cable as well. There will be no control from the head unit so everything will need to be done from the Zune.

How about connecting the usb cable from the zune straight into the pioneer usb extender?

Maybe but I doubt it. Regardless, there still will be no control from the head unit.

thank you vblue. do you know/think that Pioneer will ever open up the interface to the zune or other mp3 players throught the gui?

No I don't, 90% of the MP3 market belongs to the ipod. The Zune will never get anywhere close to that so I wouldn't expect to ever see any control interface for the Zune or any other MP3 player.
