can i clip the mute wire prior to taking my unit to installer? im getting it done at best buy and haven't asked if they'd do the bypass yet but i was wondering if they say no, can i do the mod myself or is something else that im just not seeing? thanks.

It is likely that Best Buy is not going to open them selves up to liabilities as a big company buy bypassing a safety feature on the unit. Regardless, you can relocate the wire before hand as it wont even be used for anything other then the bypass in most cases anyway so they should have no reason to handle that wire. Once you get it home you can remove the unit, snip the P brake wire, splice it with the relocated wire, and ground them both to achieve the bypass.
