Does anyone have a source for the canbus adapter needed to get a VSS for MY 2000 ML55? I have ordered one from my dealer but it must come from Germany and they have no idea when it will be here and I want to install my AVIC-Z1 NOW

 

also, i have read on other forums that the vehicle speed sense is only necessary if you go in a tunnel... Is that true?

OK the canbus from mercedes has been discontinued!!!

I have googled and searched but i'm not finding any sources.

Anyone - Please Help - - any ideas?

Can't help you with the Canbus, but the VSS only makes it track smoother and with a little more accuracy. Without it, it'll still track, but the onscreen display might not update as smoothly. It should still be accurate enough. It won't be any less accurate, than say a handheld/portable GPS unit. Yes, the VSS will still allow it to track in a bridge or if for some reason satellites are obscured since it can use VSS to calculate your position.

 

You really don't need to hook up VSS. It's nice if you can, but since you can't, I wouldn't worry about it.

That's good to hear - i think I'm going ahead with the purchase/install and keep searching for a canbus adapter and hook it up later (might be an excuse to vacation in "The Fatherland")

 

In the meantime if anyone hears of a source please let me know
