Hi all,

Long time Avic Z1 user and was thinking of upgrading to the 110. But, and this is a BIG BUT, why would I do this, if after 2 years, the Nav traffic function will be gone?

I called the tech line for Pioneer and the response I got was that yes, in 2 years MSN will no longer offer this service and there is NO REPLACEMENT service, modules, etc going to be available.

Wouldn't this stop everyone from buying this unit?

As always, thank you all in advance for your thoughts, wisdom and experience,

Steve

PS: I live in Los Angeles and nav traffic is a great tool for me.

I think you kinda answered your own question... Where I live, it wouldn't do any good, for one, it probably isn't very accurate in my area, and two, I don't need it.

As for it being the reason to not upgrade... regardless of what you own, the MSN NavTraffic service will not exist...

There's probably at least a 100 reasons to upgrade though...

Some of my reason to upgrade, in which I'll probably be swapping my Z3>110BT tonight..

-faster operation

-VR is much more intuitive

-much..much..much better/faster IPod control with VR searching to boot

-charges newer gen Iphones/Ipods

-no more ripping to HDD and having missing artist/title info

-ability to change menu button colors(I had to solder new led's in my Z3(not fun)

-a sleeker, better looking unit, without all the crap written all over it(Pioneer,NavTraffic,HDD,etc)

-customizable home screen/shortcuts

just a few off the top of my head...

I miss NavTraffic every so often, but the other improvements of the 110 more than make up for losing it

I just upgraded to the Z110BT from my upgraded Z1. Although I will miss the Nav Traffic, I really didn't use it that much. It was nice to have. I guess we are all mad because we will have a unit that will be handicapped even if we weren't going to use it. I would love to use the Movie location, and the gas prices on the MSN. I believe that Pioneer will come up with something as a suitable replacement that they can sell. I am sure they are probably already on it.
