Last week I bought a used F90BT but it didn't come with an iPod cable. Pioneer Canada says the cable I need is the CD-P1153 but reading here and many other places I'm seeing a part number of CD-IU230V. I'm wondering what the differences are between these cables, since MSRP varies quiet a bit.
Difference between CD-IU230V and CD-P1153 cable?
The answer is that you need an ipod to USB with Composite AV cable, and no, it does not have to be from Pioneer, in fact the Pioneer unit isn't overly well built, the Apple Composite AV Cable is considered better quality.
I probably will go with the Apple Composite AV Cable but I'm still curious why Pioneer Canada would say I needed the CD-P1153 cable at a price of $129.00 instead of the CD-IU230V which lists for significantly less?
Even the US Pioneer Parts website shows the CD-P1153 cable as being the iPod interface cable for the F90BT, but at least there the price is a bit better at $70...

Wish Pioneer Canada had a parts website, or that I could order from the US one. ![]()
Still curious about the difference.
There again look at the install manual, it tells you what you need.

Most likely no construction differences whatsoever, but they take different paths and routes to get the part numbers they do, one may be listed as an accessory, the other as a replacement part, that gets them a completely different pricing structure. It's not worth even concerning yourself about that aspect.
However the Pioneer parts are not that well built, and the Apple part while a few $$ more is universally regarded as to being very well built, and you get an AC to USB charger out of the deal.

If I had a dime for every time someone at Pioneer told one of us something completely wrong about one of there products Id have a lot more money then I do now.

I understand the logic behind this, and I did do this discovering that it states I need the CD-IU230V cable. But who wrote the manual? Pioneer. It was also Pioneer Canada that said on the phone that I needed the cable with part number CD-P1153. So who do I believe, Pioneer or Pioneer? ![]()
This is why I came here -- to the experts -- for the definitive answer. ![]()
I will be probably be ordering the Apple cable since my experience has always shown me that their cables are very well made and I get the bonus of an AC/USB charger that will come in handy in a house of 4 iPods.
Thanks to everyone for their input. ![]()

I'd believe Pioneer before I'd believe Pioneer (the manual over Pioneer Canada that is) and of course this all knowing site, so go with the cable. As others have pointed out, the Apple equivalent is said to be better quality, however I haven't had any problems with my Pioneer cable.
