does hooking up the pink speed sensing wire have any effect on the bypassed video working. should i just not use the pink vss wire and not worry about it? thanks

No, it doesn't, connect the VSS wire.

Connecting the pink wire to your VSS makes the unit more accurate. And like previously mentioned, it doesn't affect the bypass. What's the make and year is your vehicle ? I'll see if I can't find the location of your VSS wire if you don't know where it is.

Well, that's more than I could find. I'd make sure you have the right wire though before connecting up to it. If I were you I'd go and talk to one of your local stereo installers and they'll usually help you out.
