Just recently got my z110bt installed (with bypass), now I'm just using the normal usb to iphone cord to connect to the usb on the z110bt and also using a separate cable going from the headphone jack (on the top of the iphone3gs) to the female cable on the z110bt. Now the iphone connects and I hear audio but what I click on the video option to watch a movie/podcast/music video from the iphone the audio keeps playing but there's no video just a black screen. Anyone have any thoughts..? I was thinking it may some sort of problem to due with the fact that I'm not using the approved cable from pioneer but not sure.

Video is not supported from the headphone out on the iPhone.

no I'm using the headphone out for audio because when I just had the normal usb-phone cable connected the iphone would pop up but no sound would come out. Now that I've added that audio cable there I have audio.

Buy the right cable

I guess I'm wondering what the CD-IU50V cable has built in it that makes it work differently considering i have both of those connections connected. So it's 100% the fact that I dont have that cable..?

Yes, buy the cable.

I was under the impression that I would be able to watch YouTube videos via the Iphone's YouTube app :?:

I have no videos sync'ed to my Iphone ATM, and I'm assuming this would be why the Video button is grayed out on my head unit :?:

Yes, The iPhone does not support the playback of You Tube out of the dock connector. You can only watch Videos synced to it.

Wrong, The YouTube app on the iPhone does output to the TVOUT extension of the iPhone. You will need to put at least one video on the phone so the unit will switch to video mode. Once you have selected the video button on the screen and select the video that you have on your phone, you can open the YouTube app and start to play your vid. It will be output through the dock connector and displayed on the screen. Below is a demo of this in action from JasonH's demo vids. It starts at 1:44

i have the proper cable from pioneer but when i try to play a legit video the screen stays black (vid from iphone 3gs)...dvd works fine

Posted Jan 18, 2010 · 18:44 UTC#15

Where did you get the cable and what proceeder do you go through when you try to get it to work.

Posted Jan 18, 2010 · 23:18 UTC#16

I have the same problem. I am using the Pioneer CD-IU50V cable and when I click on a video through the pioneer menu going through my iphone 3GS a black screen comes up. I can only hear audio but not video on the screen. It just stays black. Even when I put it in video mode, I try going to youtube and play a movie and the avic screen still stays black, you can only hear the youtube audio.

What could be wrong? Are there any settings that need to be turned on? Thanks!

Restore your iPhone and re-sync your content. Also make sure the AV cable is plugged in all the way into the female part of the cable coming off of the back of the unit.

Do you mean the female part of the USB cable coming out of the unit which also has the female part of the audio jack that connects to the CD-IU50V cable? Or do you mean the actual connection on the backside of the avic-z110bt?

The AV part of the cable connection next to the USB connection of where the two cables connect.

Sorry, it's probably easier if I just show you the wiring diagram. Part A or Part B? Part B, would be the USB connection right? That's where the AV comes from?

No, the one next to it, to the left. If it is not plugged in all the way you will get audio but no video.

Set the parking brake, or make sure your bypass is done correctly.

USB if for charging/control, 3.5mm connector transmits audio and video signals.

the 3.5mm is definitely not sending video...there are 3 channels on a 3.5mm jack coming from any iphone...left/right and mic. video is definitely being sent through usb.

Video does output through the 3.5mm jack. There is no mic channel on the cable, it is video. The USB portion of the cable only supports control and charging.

Your right! The 3.5mm jack wasn't plugged in all the way so the audio would work, but video would never. Now the video works! Thanks so much!! I finally got a chance to check this after finding out i'm having sound system problems.

I dont know yet if it is the unit or the amp, but the music is playing extremely low, like 20x lower than usual. My subs are playing at normal volume but you can't hear any music. JL amp lights are still green so I suspect it has something to do with the unit. Also after a period of time when you turn the key of the car to accessory the speakers make like a quarter second beep noise, could that be a signal from the avic? Trying to narrow down problem to either headunit or amp before taking apart car to get to them both.
