Got my F900bt in december why do i need to up date it ?? if it new

You *MIGHT* need to update it - check which version you're running.

The latest firmware speeds the interface up slightly (a common complaint apparently - I haven't got my F900bt yet) and fixes other bugs (although not all of them)

Recommend you look at the search on here - there's a lot of fab information, and whilst there are a lot of very helpful and knowledgeable people on here, the forum doesn't seem that busy, and most of the questions have been asked before...... (or the question "askers" wholly outweigh those with the knowledge!!! )

even though you got it in December, it was made long before that as it has been a discontinued model for a while now. even when it was a new current system, the maps where already old and out of date.

check what version you have, and look around and see whats been changed, the system has a lot of bugs and updates fix some of them (or at least try to)

I have map version 01.00080 and version 2009000 on this unit

I'd deffo be looking at Vers3.0 then
