I have a AVIC-N1 and A DEH-P980BT and i want to run both in my car and have them connected and have the video from the N1 and the sound from the 980 if i connect the IP-BUS would that work has anyone tried this

no, just connecting the IP bus's together wont work, but you could use the P980bt as the main unit and just run the pre out from the N as external source in to the aux for the P980 (you may need to use a P-bus to RCA adapter)
