Hi guys, im new to this board and to this unit. I have a early 2008 unit and therefore its extreamly outdated in terms of the navigation aspect of it.

I want to update it since the people at the store said its possible and quite easy to do

so I stumbled apon this site and that is where im more confused than ever !!!

there are SOO many different programs, hacks etc that Im not sure what road to take.

so im asking the majority of you who read this to please answere with what you think I should do in terms of software to download on the unit, what firmare to get, and overall ANYTHING I can do to this unit that will give me the best bang for the buck and performance !!!

MUCH APPRECIATED !!

If you are not comfortable with the available hacks to update the unit, you should purchase the 3.0 upgrade from Pioneer. If you do want to attempt the hacks that have been done for these units, read over all of the hacks and mods section of the F series forum. Everything you need to know is on this forum. Good luck and be sure you understand everything before you do anything to your unit. If you don't understand, don't do it.

for starters i recommend reading threads in the hacks section,

there are a whole bunch of hacks you can do,

-hacks on the navi part

-themes on the av part

the latest firmware is 3.x and i suggest you update first (legally or ilegally)

once you're done with that is back to reading some more threads

If you are scared to mess up your system, use leetcauncher. It will boot off the sd card. Nothing gets copied to gps. It will not void warranty. Just read the threads.
