my mic is currently on the steering colum anyone tried different spots and how were the results

mine is [both] up on the headliner where it ends by the windshield on the little bracket to the left of the overhead console. the more isolated it is the better. both escalades sound great. the steering column must pick up all kinds of road noise. jim

Above the steering column is usually just fine. Typically works just as well as mounting it by the rearview mirror, and in some cases, much better.
