Full Ipod control but no sound!

So I finally finished installing my AVIC-D3 in my BMW 328ci today... took me about 15 hours total. After a few minor hiccups (including having to fix the "Please insert the appropriate disc" message), I got everything to work except for one thing. When my ipod (or iphone) is plugged in, I get full control of it through the unit and can access all of the songs, but no sound plays through my speakers! The sound works fine through the radio, so I know it's not a speaker problem, and since I can control the ipod I'm guessing the cable is fine. I didn't plug in the AV bundle (the one with the white connector) at all since I have no amp/sub or any other use for it. I am using the black Pioneer ipod cable that plugs directly into the back of the head unit. Ipod functionality is the most important feature to me, and so far I'm stuck using an FM radio with nav in it (a downgrade since my last head unit had both HD radio and a WORKING ipod connection). If somebody could please help me out in this matter I would GREATLY appreciate it! Thanks in advance

Whoops! Message pulled... bad information.

That's the last time I try to help while up at 2:30 AM suffering from insomnia.

That is incorrect. The D3 has no USB and does not use the RCA inputs for iPod as it has its own dedicated CD-I200 iPod cable. As far as I can remember, there is no setting to turn on to get signal from the iPod with the D3. As long as you have the cable it should work without problem. You may want to try and restore your iPod and re-sync your content. Also make sure the cable is plugged in all the way at the back of the unit. If that doesn't work it is likely either the cable or the unit is defective.
