Hi,

I've been reading info from this forum for a few days ... it's a great forum ... there is so much good info here.

However i cannot find the info on a couple of wires that have me confused.

I'm pretty much a beginner when it comes to this stuff but I'm removing the stock stereo (Type E in the owners manual - 7 speaker) from a MY08 Subaru Forester XT (Australian Release) and installing a AVIC-F910BT.

There is a 13 pin connector and a 8 pin conenctor (4 pins in use) to the stock stereo. While i have distinguished which wires are which for the 13 pin i have no idea about the 8 pin connector.

As mentioned there are 4 wires to this connector. Pink, Blue, White/Blue and Black/Yellow. I assume that 2 of these may be for the subwoofer (White/Blue and Black/Yellow) but not sure about the other two.

I'm hoping that someone will be able to help me out. Apologies if this is listed in another post but i have been unable to find it.

Cheers.

you need an aftermarket wiring harness. you don't want to be cutting your factory wires. the new harness is all color coded to all aftermarket radios. it is real easy. so what you will do is connect the pioneer harness to the new harness and then the new harness to the stock harness. it's done this way so you don't make a mess out of the factory wiring.it's also easier to remove the pioneer when you sell it. the harness is usaually about $20 bucks (us).i hope this helps you

Thanks for the reply Woody.

I should have mentioned I already have a wire harness. This harness takes care of the stock 13 pin connector. I can correspond each wire from the harness to the pioneer unit but i'm still left with the 4 wires from the stock 8 pin connector.

OK, so a little more research on the web and i found this site:

http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=749402

Wiring colour is slightly different for my Forester but pin placement is identical.

Pin 3 (Pink) and Pin 7 (Blue) - Steering Wheel Controls

Pin 4 (black/yellow) and Pin 6 (white/blue) - subwoofer

Hope this helps someone else out.
